This will be my final blog entry for the RBGE, as my placement is coming to an end. The past few months have been a total blur as I can’t believe we are about to enter May. Despite all the chaos and stress that has happened this year I feel working at the botanic was a tranquil space I could come and escape each week. Allowing me to clear my head as the people and environment was very welcoming. However, despite the course ending I have agreed with Lynsey to stay a little longer as I had made plans with Charlotte and Ellie to visit other regional gardens. Which I’m excited to visit as it will allow myself to network with those in other gardens, helping boost my CV for when I graduate. Although I only intend to help out for a few extra weeks in May as by June I will have other personal project I would like to peruse in preparation for returning to university in the fall. This will also give me a chance to capture images of the gardens in full bloom, creating a diverse plant portfolio of all the seasons.
Next week Victoria as agreed to come along one final time to have a nice lunch with myself and Lynsey, as a goodbye celebration and thank you for all our hard work. which I feel is much needed and deserved, as we will have finally handed in all our work for our deadlines.
As for the work I produced this week I was able to capture a Robin! As I had captured multiple bees during my visits however was yet to photograph any birds. Unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough to photograph the Blue Tits, as anytime I got close to them, they would vanish. Although maybe in my next few visits I’ll be lucky enough to capture one.

Overall, I am gutted to be having to leave the gardens as it would be a dream to work there fulltime. However, the realistic nature of that happening is slim since they already have that roll filled by Lynsey. Nevertheless, I have been extremely grateful for the opportunity and exposure of my work, therefore creating a good relationship with the RBGE. Meaning in future if they are looking for work from extra photographers, they will hopefully reach out to myself.
